To MOOC or not to MOOC

To MOOC or not to MOOC

The concept of MOOC – Massive Open Online Courses – has reached the mainstream of Norwegian media. The last days our development manger e-learning, June Breivik has made her way into Bergens Tidende, Digi.no and TV2 Nyhetskanalen with her questions and discussion about higher education and MOOC.

The MOOCs are creeping up on us, last week a couple of Danish universities announced that they are going “MOOC”. University of Copenhagen is partner with Coursera, which now has 62 university partners. What does this mean for higher education in Norway? This is the main question that both June and the rest of LearningLab now are asking ourselves. Do we have to make our own MOOC at BI? Or is this a business model that is more important for the rest of the world, which is hit harder by the financial crisis? We don’t know yet. What we do know is that it is extremely important for us to follow these trends and to spark inspirational debates and dialogues by asking these questions. What do you think? Please share with us!
